Welcome back! Here at Piedmont University we never want to forget the importance of the past when looking toward the future. Alumni Relations plays a key role in keeping alumni involved in campus life and celebrating their continuing successes. Be sure to stay connected with fellow alumni as well as your alma mater.
Maria Carter (BA in Mass Communications, ’13)
Maria Carter ’13 has accomplished a lot since graduation. After earning a BS degree in communication, Maria started in an entry level position at Golf Channel as a transcriber. She then went on to be a Production Assistant and most recently a Graphics Producer. Traveling full-time, Maria has been able to work on the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics in Stamford, which she loved. In 2018 Maria received the Alumni Award for Communication.
While at Piedmont Maria played on the Women’s Golf team for all four years and the Women’s Tennis team for two. She was the 2011 Co-Conference Champion.
Maria also has another passion with the Resources for Philippine Rural Communities (RPRC) which her mother is the founder of. Every January Maria and her mother go to the Philippines together where they teach rural communities how to create their own gardens. This is to help the people become self-sufficient, providing food for their families through natural farming.
“My time at Piedmont was incredible. I loved almost every moment of it. My professors in communications were amazing and truly helped prepare me for the line of work that I am in. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. I’m thankful for all the people that I met, the experiences that I encountered, and every beautiful trial and tribulation that I faced.”
Social media has made it possible for our alumni to stay connected with Piedmont University and each other. Piedmont Alumni utilizes the following social media platforms:
The Piedmont University Alumni Association helps to build relationships between alumni and the college through local and regional programming. They sponsor events in support of the goals and objectives of the college as well as social events such as Alumni Weekend, the Coach Cave Golf Tournament, young alumni events, and student/alumni events.
